The importance

Knitwear is a women's way out of extreme poverty. Every time you buy from us, you're ensuring the survival of a hardworking Burundian family trying to make a living as coffee farmers. But it takes our help when we're talking about the world's poorest country (2022).

When a knitter makes one hat a week, she doubles the entire family's income. The fastest knitter can make two products a day.

Beautiful and climate-friendly

This small scarf is handmade and crocheted in our newest addition. Our exclusive alpaca-cotton wool blend, so you can match it with our new short-sleeved striped alpaca-cotton blouse or the fancy clutch that's coming soon.

The yarn blend is exactly how we want it to be. The alpaca is the best source of yarn. It is gentle in its environment, drinks very little water and eats only the outer twigs over a large area. It is the most temperate wool of all. So it's perfect for our changeable weather. At the same time, it holds water up to 40% of its own weight without losing its ability to keep you warm.

The scarves are so beautiful in the right on-time colors that you won't have to buy a new summer coat again this year.

Coffee Beanies crocheted small scarves are a way out of poverty for a hardworking Burundian family. When an African knitter makes one beanie a week, she doubles the entire family's income. The fastest knitter can make one hat a day, which is equivalent to 2 pairs of scarves.

For a style to be included in our range, it must meet certain requirements:

  • there are many "labour-hours" in the product which gives the woman a lot of work.
  • there is new learning, so the woman can become more skilled and start selling things for the home market herself.
  • it's a fairly easy recipe so we can quickly invite new women on board for a job.
  • will it disturb the balance at home unnecessarily or can she continue looking after her children and also still do field work
